Block Shorts, Reels and TikTok without blocking the whole apps

ShortBlocker blocks only the short videos in each app and leaves the rest of the app alone. On the free plan it blocks one app at a time, and you can change which one whenever you like. Premium blocks all five at once: YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels, TikTok, Facebook Reels and Snapchat Spotlight.

Updated 15 October 2026. For ShortBlocker 1.1.1 on Android 8 or later.

How to block several apps at once

Install ShortBlocker from Google Play.
Open it and switch on each app you want to block. The free plan keeps one switch on at a time; Premium lets you switch on all five.
Tap Open settings, find ShortBlocker in Android’s Accessibility list, switch it on and tap Allow. The setup guide has the exact menus for Google Pixel, Samsung, Xiaomi and other phones.

What is blocked, and what stays

YouTube: Shorts are blocked. Long videos, home, search, subscriptions and channels keep working.
Instagram: Reels are blocked. Messages, feed, Stories, search and profiles keep working.
TikTok: videos are covered over. Your inbox and profile stay open.
Facebook: Reels in the main Facebook app are blocked. Facebook Lite isn’t blocked.
Snapchat: Spotlight is blocked.

Videos friends send you still play in Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat and Facebook (a Reel sent in Messenger). YouTube is the exception: a Shorts link sent to you opens in YouTube’s Shorts player and is blocked.

If a short video is ever missed, or something is blocked by mistake, tap Report a screen in the app (or Wrong? on the blocked notice). It takes two taps and we’ll fix it.

Free or Premium?

Everything else is the same on both plans: pause for up to 24 hours, report a screen, detection updates, no ads and no account. The only difference is how many apps are blocked at once. See the plans for prices.
