ShortBlocker

Privacy policy

SNOR LTD provides ShortBlocker. ShortBlocker helps you avoid short-form video feeds in supported apps. This policy describes what the app reads on your phone and what leaves your phone when you choose to send a report. Updated: 3 October 2026.

What the accessibility service reads

ShortBlocker uses Android's Accessibility API. While the service is on, it reads the window of the app in front of you so it can tell whether a supported app (YouTube, TikTok and TikTok Lite, Instagram, Facebook and Snapchat) is showing a short-video viewer. For supported apps it reads the screen layout: view identifiers, element types, positions and sizes, whether an element is selected or tappable, and the text and descriptions shown on screen. This is processed in the phone's memory to decide whether to go back or cover the video. It is not saved and not sent anywhere. For other apps, the service only checks which app and windows are in front; it does not read their content.

On Android 14 and later, TikTok blur may briefly process images of the blocked TikTok window in memory to draw the cover. Those images are discarded when covering ends and are never saved or sent.

Layouts kept for reports

So you can report a video that was not blocked, or a screen that was blocked by mistake, ShortBlocker keeps the layout of one screen from a supported app in memory for up to 5 minutes: the screen it has just blocked, or the screen you were looking at when you tapped the Report this screen tile. It does not keep a history of the screens you visit. Before a layout is kept, all text and content descriptions are removed, leaving only view identifiers, element types, positions and sizes, and the selected and tappable flags, together with what ShortBlocker decided for that screen and why. For Snapchat, identifiers that may contain names or other content are removed too. These layouts are never written to storage and are deleted after 5 minutes, when the accessibility service stops, or when you send a report. They leave your phone only if you send a report.

Screenshots that stay on your phone

So you can recognise the screen you are reporting, on Android 11 and later ShortBlocker takes a small screenshot in only two cases: when you tap the Report this screen tile, and when ShortBlocker blocks a short video, so that Wrong? on the block notice can show exactly what was blocked. It takes no other screenshots: none while you scroll, browse messages or use other apps, and none while blocking is paused or that app's switch is off. It takes them only inside supported apps. Each screenshot is shrunk at once, kept only in the phone's memory, never written to storage and never sent to anyone: reports contain the text-free layout only, never an image. At most one screenshot is kept at a time, and it is replaced by the next one. It is also deleted when you close the report page, when its block notice goes away without you tapping Wrong?, when you send a report, when the accessibility service stops, and in any case after 5 minutes. Protected windows come out black and are skipped. These screenshots are separate from the TikTok blur images described above.

What stays on your phone

Your switches, pause settings and whether you have Premium stay on your phone. ShortBlocker has no account, no ads and no analytics or tracking SDKs. It does not collect your messages, browsing history, contacts or location. Apart from downloading detection updates (below), nothing is sent from your phone unless you press Send on a report.

Detection updates

Supported apps change their layouts, so ShortBlocker downloads updated detection rules from our Cloudflare-hosted service when it starts and about once a day, or when you tap Detection rules in Settings. The request contains nothing about you: no identifiers, settings, usage, screen content or app list, only what any internet request needs. Cloudflare sees your public IP address and the time of the request to deliver and protect the service. The rules are the same public file for everyone and are signed by SNOR LTD; the app checks the signature and ignores anything unsigned, altered or older. If a download fails, ShortBlocker keeps using the rules it already has.

Reports you choose to send

ShortBlocker offers three kinds of report, and each is sent only when you press Send after seeing what it contains. A report is transmitted over HTTPS to our Cloudflare-hosted service and stored in Cloudflare R2 so SNOR LTD can investigate and improve blocking. A report ID is generated so the report can be found later.

You can tap Wrong? on the notice that appears when ShortBlocker blocks something (the report opens for exactly that screen), or tap the Report this screen tile in Quick Settings (the report opens for the screen you were looking at). Settings and the home screen explain how to add that tile. The report page shows your on-device screenshot, when there is one, next to exactly what will be sent.

Something wasn't blocked: for a screen that was not blocked, the app shows a preview of its layout first. The report contains that structural layout without any text or descriptions, the app's package name and version, the time the layout was captured, what ShortBlocker recognized and did on that screen, whether that app's switch was on and whether blocking was paused, your optional note, the ShortBlocker version, the Android version, the phone manufacturer and model, which switches were on, and whether the accessibility service was on, and whether you use the free plan or Premium. It also includes details that change how a screen looks and that we need to reproduce a miss: your phone's screen size in pixels, display size (density) and font size settings, whether it is a tablet, whether dark mode, one-handed mode or gesture navigation is on, the size and orientation (upright or sideways) of the app's window, your language and region as a language tag such as nl-NL (never other personal details), which version of the detection rules ShortBlocker was using, whether they were the copy built into the app or a downloaded update and when they were last updated, and which detection checks passed or were missing for that layout (view names and sizes from the rules only, never text). If ShortBlocker left that screen alone on purpose (for example because Comments were open or the video was opened from a message), the app tells you why before you send; if you send it anyway, the report includes that reason and is marked as disputed.

Blocked by mistake: for a recent screen that ShortBlocker blocked or covered, you report that it should not have been. The report contains the same information as above, including whether ShortBlocker went back or covered the video, and is marked as a false positive.

Report a bug: your written message and submission time, and, if you leave Include diagnostics on, the same app, Android, phone model, switch, screen size, display setting, language and region, and detection rules information, whether you use the free plan or Premium, and the app, window size and orientation, time, and what ShortBlocker recognized and did on the last supported screen it read (no layout and no text; it is kept in memory only and ignored after 30 minutes). You can also add up to three screenshots from your photo library. They are shown in the report before you send, are reduced in size and re-saved on your phone so any location data in the original is removed, and are sent exactly as shown; they can show whatever was on your screen, so check them first. They are stored and deleted like the rest of the report. You can preview the diagnostics or switch them off. Your own message and note are sent as written; do not put personal or sensitive information in them.

Cloudflare processes each request and its network information, including your public IP address, to deliver and protect the service, including limiting how many reports can be sent from one address. SNOR LTD does not add your IP address to stored reports. Reports are used for support and to improve detection, including turning layouts into test cases, and never for advertising.

Premium and purchases

ShortBlocker is free to use for one app at a time. ShortBlocker Premium is an optional subscription, sold through Google Play, that lets you block several apps at once. Google handles the payment, your payment details and the subscription, and Google's privacy policy applies to them. The app asks Google Play, on your phone, whether you have an active subscription and saves the answer (yes or no) on your phone so blocking works without a connection. ShortBlocker does not send anything about your purchase to our servers. SNOR LTD receives sales information from Google Play, such as order numbers and amounts, as every seller on Google Play does. You can cancel or manage your subscription at any time in Google Play.

Retention and deletion

Submitted reports are deleted automatically from Cloudflare R2 90 days after you send them. You can delete a report you sent from this phone sooner in the app's Privacy policy screen: tap the bin next to the report, and it is removed from our storage. Reports whose note is no longer on your phone, for example after uninstalling the app, cannot be deleted sooner that way. To request earlier deletion of such a report, email support@snorltd.com with the report ID and the date you sent it. The app's Privacy policy screen can open this email for you. If you no longer have the ID, give the approximate date and app so we can try to locate the report. Uninstalling the app does not delete reports already sent; they are removed when their 90 days end.

For each report you send, the phone keeps a note with the report ID, the date and time, the first line of your message or note, and a random key that lets only this phone delete that report. Our service keeps only a fingerprint of that key. The note does not include the layout or diagnostics. Clearing the app's storage or uninstalling the app removes these notes and your settings.

If you email support, your email address, message and any attachments are processed in our Google Workspace mailbox to handle your inquiry or deletion request, and may remain there until deleted. You can ask us to delete that correspondence too.

Other services and your choices

Cloudflare (hosting and storage of reports) and Google Workspace (support email) process information on behalf of SNOR LTD to provide their services. Google Play provides the subscription and handles payments as a separate service. Processing may take place outside your country. SNOR LTD does not sell or share report data with other parties.

You can turn off ShortBlocker's accessibility access at any time in Android Settings, Accessibility, ShortBlocker. Blocking stops and no further layouts are read or kept.
